# affiliate disclosure

Affiliate disclosure.

Web Dev Blog earns commission on some outbound links. This page is where we explain which links, from which partners, and how the arrangement does not shape our editorial verdicts.

Which links.

Every affiliate link on this site carries rel="sponsored nofollow". Every review post that references an affiliate partner carries an Amber disclosure bar above the fold, before the hero image, in Mono type. Non-review content (tutorials, tool guides, accessibility posts) does not usually contain affiliate links.

Which partners.

  • Kinsta: managed WordPress hosting. Commission per signup, plus a small recurring share of subsequent monthly revenue.
  • WP Engine: managed WordPress hosting via ShareASale. Flat commission per signup.
  • Cloudways: managed cloud hosting. Commission per signup, banded by plan.
  • DigitalOcean: cloud VPS hosting. Referral credit + commission per verified account.
  • Vercel: frontend cloud hosting. Partner referral share on team plan signups.
  • SiteGround: shared and managed hosting. Commission per signup.

How this does not influence verdicts.

Editorial verdicts are based on real tests, not on commission rates. If Kinsta’s TTFB is faster than WP Engine’s on our London tests, that is what we say, regardless of the fact that WP Engine’s per-signup payout is higher. If a partner ships a bad product year, they get a bad review. If a non-partner ships something better, we say so and link to them without a commission.

Sponsored posts.

Web Dev Blog accepts at most one sponsored post per calendar quarter. Sponsored posts are disclosed inline in the byline and above the fold in Rose (not Amber, to distinguish from standard affiliate posts). We reserve the right to reject any sponsored placement that conflicts with editorial standards. Sponsored posts are not linked from the pillar navigation.
